<< PEDAGOGICAL MISSION >>

An international ensemble with members from the UK, Spain, Denmark, Brazil and Colombia, as well
as collaborators worldwide, including Japan, India and South Africa, Zecora Ura draws young
performers, dancers and artists from all over the world to participate in its extensive artistic and
pedagogical program.  It organises workshops regularly all year round, teaching its unique approach
to body and movement that combines, amongst other practises, Brazilian Capoeira and Japanese
Butoh.  Its pedagogical work is the subject of continuous projects with Rose Bruford College, Bexley
Council and international partners such as the British School in Rio de Janeiro, which the company
runs in universities, schools, festivals, symposiums and conferences worldwide.

ZECORA URA is currently company in residence at Rose Bruford College and Oval House Theatre.

We are a company limited by guarantee, number 5278391, concluding the process of attaining

charitable status.

I've been amazed, shocked, delighted and sometimes disgusted at the work of
ZECORA URA
. They bring an imagination and creativity to their work that I'm pleased
isn't going on in my head. The work is physical, challenging and professional
- all characteristics vital to new theatre but all too often missing in young companies.
I am proud that Rose Bruford College had some small part in the training of these
weird people.

Prof. Alastair Pearce - Principal of Rose Bruford College

Based in London and committed to promoting genuine collaboration within a culturally diverse
environment, ZECORA URA theatre is a meeting point for artists across art-forms to input creatively
within a theatrical milieu, aiming at new audiences of the most diverse backgrounds.
We put emphasis in enabling the most suitable conditions
to develop research and experimentation,
with the help of our experienced collaborators.

ZECORA URA is one of the most exciting young theatre companies to have
emerged from London's theatre schools. They are multi-cultural, multi-talented,
and totally unpredictable. Each of the shows that they create is a revelation.
They perform everywhere from international festival venues to tube-trains and toilets.
Their work is bizarre, poetic and funny.  Look out for them.

Anthony Hozier - Vice-Principal of Rose Bruford College

 << RESIDENCY & NATIONAL PROJECTS >>

  Rose Bruford College 2003-2006..

Company-in-residence at Rose Bruford College

Our activities aim to provide the Department with a contemporary, on going process-led perspective

in theatre and performance practice, expanding and increasing interaction between professional
and educational and research fields.

Alongside the course syllabus, or on the request of the Department staff we contribute to tuition

with workshops, lectures and training sessions, while both the teaching staff and students can take
advantage of our professional activities as a part of their educational programme.

We regularly present our performances and works-in-progress in the theatre facilities of the campus,

alongside open rehearsal sessions to students who are interested in witnessing and participating
in our artistic and research activities.

Under the supervision of the Department, we also involve students who express a willingness to get

involved in professional work experience with us.

  National Student Drama Festival 2006..

NSDF06 will welcome Brazilian theatre company ZECORA URA to the festival with a programme
of theatre skills workshops and performance. This project will represent a unique collaboration

companies: Teatr Piesn Kozla (Song of the Goat Theatre, Poland) & LUME Teatro (Brazil).
The workshops run by ZECORA URA will cover a diverse range of theatre skills and will be led by

theatre related areas, including Rose Bruford College, schools within the Bexley Borough, the British

<< TOURING WORKSHOPS & ACTIVITIES OVERSEAS >>

The company has performed in London, Edinburgh, Spain, Finland, Japan, Portugal, Germany, Iceland
and Brazil.  In October 2004, ZECORA URA theatre embarked on a five month project in Rio de Janeiro
,
Sao Paulo and Bahia,
following which we have returned to London with a new production based on
Shakespeare's The Tempest.

Since June 2001 the company has been developing an independent artistic profile of high standard
theatre productions as well as building on the relationship with our partners in Brazil and the UK.
From November 2002, the company begun approaching ways through which to deliver expertise
workshops and courses firstly in the UK and Brazil, expanding rapidly due to international demand
for Festivals and institutions in Japan, Iceland, Germany and Poland,  performing in key events such
as the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2002.

After producing 12 productions by 2004, Zecora Ura embarked on a 5 month tour & research project
in 3 major cultural areas of Brazil (Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Bahia), where the company
established strong links with local institutions, companies and festivals, as well as developing a
deeper understanding of Brazilian culture and its influence in our work as a company.  Out of this
project, we have created short documentary clips, workshops, seminars and a street-performance,
which have been shown at Symposiums and Festivals in Brazil and the UK in 2005.  As a result of
our work with local partners, further activities will take place in Brazil and the UK during June,
August and September 2005.
